Frequently Asked Questions
What is Therapy?
Therapy is a safe place to talk about what’s going on in your life. It’s confidential, judgement free, and all about you.
How does Confidentiality work?
Everything in therapy is confidential. However, there are times when a therapist is legally obligated to break confidentiality which includes self-harm, harm to others, and suspected child and elderly abuse and neglect.
Why should I come to Therapy?
People come to therapy for a variety of reasons. Some people seek therapy for help with mental health disorders, to de-stress, for support or coping, for communication, and self-exploration.
How long is Therapy?
The duration of Therapy depends on the someone’s progress. Therapy is a very personal experience and we can help to tailor it for you.
What is the Therapy Process?
Our job as therapists is to help you address anything that may be on your mind. We work with you to craft a plan to help you achieve the goals you have for yourself. We use different modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and more.
Do you Prescribe Medication?
First and foremost, a lot of people who come to therapy don’t need medications. For those that may need them, we do not prescribe medication. Therapy is handled by a Psychologist, Mental Health Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, or Clinical Social Worker. In order to get a prescription, you need to see a Psychiatrist, Medical Doctor or Nurse Practitioner. We have several providers that we can refer you to that can provide medications, if needed.
